Brazilian Waxing

Brazilian waxing is a type of waxing involving the bikini area. This procedure involves the complete removal of hair adjacent to the anus, perineum and vulva (labia majora and mons pubis). Some forms of Brazilian waxing leave a small line of pubic hair above the vulva.

Waxing

Waxing is a temporary method of hair removal which removes the hair at the root. New hairs do not grow back in the waxed area for three to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet.

Eyelash/Brow Tinting

Tinting is the application of a vegetable dye applied to the eye area or eyebrows to darken the area for up to eight weeks at a time.

Hot Wax

Is a thick wax that sets on it own once applied to the skin. Then removed with fingers. Hot wax is usually reserved the more sensitive areas of the body. Especially for Brazilian Bikini waxing, underarms and eyebrows.

Strip Wax

Strip wax is applied and then removed with paper, calico or plastic strips. Strip wax is traditionally used for the larger areas of the body. Some strip waxes are now made softer to also used of more delicate areas.

Tweezers

Tweezers are tools used for picking up small objects that are not easily managed or handled with the human hands. They are used in beauty as a devise to tweeze small hairs left from after waxing.

Spray Tan

Spray tan is an application where a tanning solution is lightly sprayed onto the skin to create a temporary tanned appearance. Spray or airbrush tanning is used in many different machines to apply this solution. Spray tans can be applied at home from a spray can, at salons, spray booths, an airbrush machine or a specific tanning machine.

Laser

The Laser emits pulses of high-energy light, which pass through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment/dark color in the hair shaft and follicle. The Laser energy heats the follicle and damages the cells that produce hair.

IPL

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), as most commonly employed by non-specialist medical practitioners and beauticians, is a method of hair removal from the body involving the use of a specially constructed xenon flash lamp and focusing optics.
The focused, broad spectrum light is applied to the surface of the skin by way of either a hand-held wand, or by an articulated arm. The intense light travels down the hair shafts, where it strikes the bulb, or root, of the hair. The bulb is usually where the highest concentration of melanineis located, as opposed to the rest of the hair shaft.

Highlights

Is the term used to describe permanently lightening sections of the hair. This can range from fine natural looking results to large panels of colour, placed where they will best emphasize a cut and framing of the face.

Foils

Foils can be made using colour to lighten or darken sections of the hair. Foils is the term used when sections of the hair are wrapped in foil separate from the rest of the hair.

Semi Colour

Is a temporary colour that fades over time, that is used to darken the hair. Can be added for a great shine and reflect to the hair.

Clippering

Is where a clippering tool is used to cut hair the same length. In hairdressing this is used in hair cuts mostly men and can also be used to create a shaved look. In beauty clippers are used to shorten hair on the body before waxing.

Hairstyling

Is the term used to describe any hairstyling method once the hair has been dried and cut. Hairstyling is anything from creating curls to adding product to the hair to style it.

Straightening Irons

Are metal plates used in a devise that is heated to create straight or curled hair after has been washed and dried. Straightening irons are a widely used product to finish and style the hair.

Bleach

Bleach is made up of a powder and different strengtheners using hydrogen peroxide to permanently lighten the hair. Bleach can be used in highlighting or on the scalp and can sometimes be used to strip unwanted colour out of the hair.

Platinium

Is a lightening product, like bleach. Platinium is used as an alternative to bleach as it retains the hairs optimum condition and strength. It can be used in highlights and or on the scalp.

Permanent Colour

Grows out of the hair mostly used to darken the hair shaft. Can also be used to lighten hair but only a few shades. Also used a grey coverage.

Hair Up

Is a broad term to described a procedure to dressing hair for an occasion. Hair ups or hair up do's are usually used for weddings & special events.

Hair Cutting

Is where a pair of thinning scissors, razors, or clippers can be used to cut, style and reshape hair.
