Lip Blush Tattoo

Treatment

Lip Blush Tattoo

Lip blushing is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that deposits natural pigments to enhance the lips’ color, shape, and definition. Also known as aquarelle lip blushing, the technique creates a soft, watercolor-like result that refines your natural lip shade and contour, giving the appearance of fuller lips without looking artificial. The procedure typically begins with a pigment consult to match your skin tone, preferred depth and shape.

Pigment is carefully deposited in the upper dermis to achieve long-lasting color that gradually fades over time.

Most clients enjoy results that last about 2–3 years, with touch-ups every 12–24 months to refresh color and shape. Aftercare includes avoiding harsh exfoliants, limiting direct sun exposure, and keeping lips moisturized as they heal (healing usually takes about 5–7 days).

Suitable for anyone seeking a low-maintenance, natural enhancement of lip color and definition.

What to Expect

Consultation: You’ll discuss your desired shade, level of fullness, and overall look. A color and depth match is chosen to suit your skin tone and lip undertones.

Patch test: To check for sensitivities to the pigments.

Medical considerations: Share your medical history, current medications, and any history of cold sores. If you’re prone to cold sores, antiviral prophylaxis may be advised.

Pre-care: Avoid alcohol, blood-thinning supplements, and aggressive lip exfoliation for a few days before your treatment as advised by your cosmetic tattooist.

During the procedure: Your cosmetic tattooist will select a personalised shade and gently deposit the pigment to the upper skin layers, yielding a soft, watercolor-like tint.

The color can range from subtle shading to a more defined blush, enhancing and working your natural beauty.

Immediately after: Lips often look darker and may be mildly swollen. The color will soften as healing progresses

Pre & Post Care

Appearance:

Lips may be slightly swollen and tender for a few hours. The color may appear brighter than expected right after healing begins. The color will soften as healing progresses.

Healing timeline:

Days 1–3: Swelling & light tenderness. Color is typically more intense. Days 4–7: Lips may peel, or flaky areas appear as part of healing. Weeks 2–4: The color softens and settles to a natural-looking shade. The exact tone can shift slightly as the skin heals.

Aftercare:

You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions, including how to apply any prescribed ointment, how to cleanse the area, and activities to avoid during healing. Wait to apply lipstick or lip gloss until your artist confirms healing is complete.

Aftercare essentials:

Keep lips moisturised with the recommended balm. Avoid harsh exfoliants and active skincare near the treated area. Do not swim, sauna or hot tubs for 7 days. Do not pick. Let it shed naturally.
