Brazilian Waxing for Beginners
18 Feb, 2016
Out of a range of beauty treatments, undoubtedly one of the most polarising is the Brazilian Wax. This waxing technique has won over countless devotees around the world, but for those who have never experienced it, going for a Brazilian can seem like a daunting prospect.
Here at Claire Francoise, we pride ourselves on creating a tranquil, comfortable environment for any of our waxing services. In order to help prepare you for your first Brazilian wax, we are walking you through the process so you can know what to expect.
Brazilian waxing 101
If you are hitting the beach or the pool this summer, there is nothing worse than donning your bathers and realising that you've left one part of your bikini-ready body unchecked. Brazilian waxing helps to neaten up the area for worry-free swimming, and a beach-ready look worthy of Copacana in Rio.
However, like any waxing treatment, there are a few things to keep in mind when going for a Brazilian. In order to maintain your waxing, you'll need to be prepared to come in every 4-6 weeks for a touch up session - leaving it any longer than this can often become more uncomfortable, mainly due to a build up of skin cells and hair regrowth.
Before you go for a Brazilian wax, it is recommended that your hair is at least a quarter inch, or about 6 millimetres long, so depending on your current routine, you may have to lay off shaving for a short while prior to your waxing. On the other end of the scale, if your hairs are too long, your beauty therapist will trim them before starting your wax - it's best to not try and trim your hairs yourself, in case you cut too far on the short side.
The bare necessities
Once you've gotten comfortable in the treatment room, you will need to remove your undergarments prior to the wax. Your therapist will wait until you're ready, and a modesty towel is supplied for your comfort. While we do our best to preserve your modesty during your waxing, there's no need to feel awkward - our therapists are trained professionals and have done some 45,000 waxes for our lovely clients all across Melbourne.
For the wax itself, we only rely on our customised 'Lime Lustre' wax, perfectly suited for Brazilian treatments. While we may use a little strip wax to help neaten up the final result, you can rest assured that we do not use bulk or roll on strip waxing methods.
Our therapists understand how important it is for clients to feel as much at ease as possible, which is why they will talk you through the process while still being quick to ensure your comfort. Post waxing, your therapist will talk you through some after-care instructions, as well as apply a soothing lavender or tea tree oil.
