How to Make the Most of your IPL Treatment
27 Nov, 2014
The air is getting warmer, the days are lasting longer and the sun is shining brighter, it can only mean one thing, summer is well and truly on its way.
So we thought this was a good time to reflect on a crucial part of getting any IPL treatments and how you can manage getting the best results out of your IPL hair removal or IPL ski rejuvenation treatments.
The importance of making safe decisions when it comes to IPL and or Laser treatments and sun exposure is vital. You don’t want to experience a negative reaction that could have been easily avoided.
IPL & Sun Exposed Skin
Whilst some claim you can treat sun exposed skin. Our Australian sun is so strong especially during the summer months. We take great pride in being highly educated and experienced in IPL and skin, having been performing IPL treatments on a wide range of skin types since 2004.
For the safety of your skin and to make sure your well looked after, any unprotected sun exposure on the area being treated must be postponed for at least 4 weeks. Sometimes this period needs to be longer if you tan easily and your skin has not completely faded. Always ask for a patch test just to be sure.
Make sure you choose your IPL treatments with an experienced technician and ask about the machine being used. In Victoria there are currently no regulatory measures as to whom and what machines can used. This is scary and in the wrong hands, damage can well and truly be done.
Slip, slop, slap, you have heard the message a million times, but it’s never been so vital. Be consistent with using a high protection sunscreen on the treatment area or go one better and cover up.
The best results from your next IPL treatment, you must be rigorous with applying the sunscreen especially during summer, and also for the welfare of your skin long term.
Don’t like being white? Fake it with a professionally applied sunless tan, like St, Tropez spray tan, and just exfoliate the area for your IPL treatment.
